
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has said she took part in the UK reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother because she was paid a lot of money to do so.But Shetty said she would never do anything 'un-Indian or demean her self-respect, she was speaking to Indian Express Editor-in-Chief on NDTV's Walk The Talk programme in London's Hyde Park. Speaking about the Big Brother show she said: "I did it because it was a huge challenge for me, I did it because it was a great opportunity. "It was a very lucrative offer for me, and I am not apologetic about saying yes, I got paid very very well," Shetty said. "If people say, oh..she's not representing the country, she just went there to make money, I am in shock, because that's what has hurt me more than anything else," she said. The actress stressed, "I am there to make my money, but no, my honor and my integrity is not up for sale. I never made money at somebody else's cost."I was very clear when I was going on Big Brother that I will do this much, I will not do this. There were points in my contract that said I wouldn't wear a bikini, I wouldn't do a kissing thing with any of the housemates if it was a task," Shetty said on the programme. There was a surge in Shetty's popularity after allegations that she was a victim of racist attacks on the Big Brother show.
