Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who has acted in more than 300 movies in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi is an angry man. Angry that he was not considered the best actor in 2006 despite what he considers brilliant performances in three films. In an exclusive interview to NDTV, Mammootty for the first time broke his silence on the award row. "I am a very hardworking actor for the last 25 years in the Malayalam industry. I may get hurt but I don't feel any regret or any disappointment. There are many awards to come so that would be different jury. Only this jury decided that I am not deserving. Another jury can decide differently, any superior jury can decide," said Mammootty.Critics say Mammootty apparently lost out because of his close association with the CPI(M). The actor is the chairman of CPI(M) supported Kairali TV. And to demonstrate their impartiality, those who matter in the government, apparently decided to overlook Mammootty for the award. Mammootty has won four national awards, 6 state awards and 6 Filmfare awards so far."I know I put my sincere effort to do all my films. Sometimes I fail, sometimes they fail," said the actor.Mammootty has five films on the floors including Mission 90 days in which he plays the officer who leads the operation against the killers of Rajiv Gandhi.Awards or no awards, Mammootty continues to rule the silver screen in Kerala and the veteran of 300 films says the best is yet to come.
